Racial Justice Town Hall

A free, interactive, online event, the Cannabis Amnesty Industry Town Hall on Cannabis and Racial Justice discussed the ways that racial justice is intimately tied with the development of cannabis laws and policies in Canada, situating the advocacy work we do in its broader historical and social context. Part educational and part inspirational, the Town Hall explored the legal, political and social structures that allowed racialized communities to be overrepresented in cannabis prosecutions but underrepresented in the legal cannabis industry in Canada. Designed to inspire actors in the cannabis industry to take up the fight for racial justice, it offered ways in which the legal industry in Canada can step up to counteract historical wrongs through active corporate social responsibility measures.
